Job OverviewAs a Shift Brewer, you will be an integral part of our brewing team, contributing to the creation of our unique craft beers. You will be responsible for executing the brewing process with precision, ensuring top‑notch quality, and fostering a collaborative, passionate, and safety‑conscious environment. The brewery has recently expanded from a 10 barrel two‑vessel system in a 650 sqft space (max 680 barrels‑per‑year) to a 15 barrel four‑vessel system, exceeding the short‑term goal of 1,500 barrels‑per‑year in 2 months.
We require a knowledgeable brewer to operate and maintain a CODI canning line, complete cellar tasks, and produce wort.
- Maintain and operate CODI canning line.
- Execute core cellar tasks of filtering beer with GEA Centrifuge, CIP Fermenter, Brite and Lager Tanks, recording dailies, and harvesting yeast.
- Complete second turn and close‑down procedures.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient brewing environment.
- Perform routine maintenance and sanitation of brewing equipment.
- Conduct regular quality control checks, including tasting, gravity measurements, temperature monitoring, and pH analysis.
- Collaborate with the Head Brewer and brewing team on recipe development, ingredient selection, and new product trials.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing brewery operations and product excellence.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve production goals and meet tight deadlines.
- Maintain accurate production and inventory records.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a packaging line, cellaring and/or brewing in a commercial brewery setting.
- Experience working with and maintaining a packaging line.
- Comprehensive knowledge of brewing processes, equipment, and various ingredients.
- Familiarity with diverse craft beer styles, flavor profiles, and quality standards.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to handle heavy objects such as kegs and bags of malt.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Attentive to details with a focus on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.
- Formal brewing education or certifications (e.g., brewing science, brewing technology, Cicerone) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and procedures.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
- Operating and maintaining a Centrifuge for clarifying beer.
- Familiarity with working with Foeders, Lager tanks and barrels.
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- Passionate, creative and organized.
- Able to routinely and repetitively lift 55lbs – 170lbs, work around loud noises, and in hot/cold, wet/dry work environments with typical brewery chemicals.
- Must be comfortable operating a range of brewery equipment including obtaining forklift certification.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be computer literate, and have familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) and Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets).
