Materials & Inventory Control Manager
The purpose of the Materials & Inventory Control Manager is to achieve required levels of customer service, effective capacity planning and scheduling to ensure optimization of available site resources. The position oversees all Supply Chain Planning, Inventory, and Materials Scheduling management functions, including coordination of API, excipients, packaging components purchasing, third‑party suppliers, inventory control, and transportation/deliveries. The role develops and monitors key performance indicators and processes with internal functions such as operations, quality control and assurance, technical and outside suppliers, and manages continuous improvement in ERP, material flow, inventory control, and production processes.
RoleResponsibilities
- Deliver materials and component availability plans to ensure on-time shipment of finished goods with effective inventory levels.
- Support commercial launch of new products and product transfers through planning and procurement of materials and represent the site on procurement, ERP and planning committees.
- Prioritize and coordinate across Supply Chain, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Technical, Engineering and other departments to achieve customer service and financial goals.
- Evaluate and implement SAP system enhancements to maximize automated planning and scheduling utilization.
- Analyze SAP output to assure accuracy of department plans and oversee plant operations scheduling for maximum performance, providing detailed capacity analysis.
- Maintain accuracy of Production and Inventory Control systems (Item Master, Bill of Material, Work Center Master, Routing) to ensure effective coordination of resources.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to prevent or resolve obsolete inventory items.
- Lead the monthly Material Review Board meeting with operations, technical, and quality leads.
- Coordinate with department leads to resolve flow or production impediments, escalating systemic issues beyond Tier 3 scope.
- Work with operations managers to develop strategic production plans that support customer orders and financial results, establishing departmental objectives and inventory plans for site budgeting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain or Production Planning.
- Experience in manufacturing operations and planning, buying, warehousing, industrial engineering, and operations.
- Knowledge of planning processes and systems (ERP, capacity planning, staffing, production run rates, scenario planning, and financial impact).
- Experience in FDA-regulated manufacturing environments with shared work center capacity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SAP and delivery of improvement initiatives and KPI implementation resulting in financial or non-financial benefits.
- Track record of achieving production, customer service, financial, and inventory goals.
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified.
Salary range: $101,981 to $ annually plus a 12% performance bonus.
