Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safe Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
    Perform daily inspections, environmental swabbing, product inspections, verify compliance with established standards, preventive maintenance on Quality equipment, conduct internal audits.
  • Product Handling, Quality Control & Inventory Management:
    Conduct and oversee sensory testing, label verification, analytical testing; follow plant policies for holding materials, collect retention samples; assist inventory control with FIFO, customer sample requests, microbiological testing, communicate quality results, advise production teams when product is out of specifications, manage traceability programs, provide backup support in department lead's absence.
  • Food Safety & Sanitation Compliance:
    Lead facility inspections, assist quality checks and audits; follow GMP, HACCP, SQF, FSMA, company policies; maintain cleanliness and sanitation; participate in internal auditing, lead FSQ compliance, serve as subject matter expert and mentor for food safety.
  • Team Collaboration, Leadership & Training:
    Collaborate cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues and customer complaints; assist team members, adapt to operational changes, support productivity, safety, and quality goals; provide backup coverage for roles, share knowledge, support training, assist with SOP development, facilitate cross‑departmental collaboration, coordinate team activities, lead shift meetings, train others in advanced operations.
  • Documentation, Communication & Continuous Improvement:
    Manage quality programs, documentation using SAP and quality management software; prepare written documents; record inventory transactions, shipments, quality results; support plant trials, process improvements, cost savings; participate in 5S efforts; review quality paperwork; develop solutions; act as 5S champion and lead improvement projects, operator‑based maintenance, analyze variance causes.
Knowledge, Training and Experience Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Food Science preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in manufacturing or food production.
  • 18+ years of age.
Technical & Mechanical Skills
  • Operate, troubleshoot, advise on minor adjustments to formulas or processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude to resolve quality irregularities.
  • Proficiency in SAP, hand scanners, basic math.
  • Advanced: proficiency in MII, WE systems, line huddle measures.
  • Computer literacy:
    Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Safety & Compliance
  • Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and other food safety regulations.
  • Commitment to safety policies and procedures.
  • Physical: lift up to 50 lbs, push heavy loads, stand/walk up to 90% of shift, climb as needed.
  • Visual and motor requirements: near/far acuity, color perception, full hand/arm movement.

  • Effective communication in English.

  • Provide training, guidance, feedback; advanced levels lead projects, identify skill gaps.
