Scope of Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of personnel and production on the shop floor. This position implements Lean principles in their area; provides support and oversees the work performed by the Lead Associates; and maintains the physical plant within the assigned area.

This position is responsible for the supervision of 10+ union workers, reports to the Director, Operations, and is onsite in Blauvelt, NY.

Primary

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review daily visual production boards to maintain efficient production performance; provide prioritized production scheduling to all Lead Associates and team members.
  • Implement Lean principles, including takt‑time, balanced flow process, visual factory, empowered team meetings, total safety, standardized work, and 5S standards.
  • Supervise all work performed; offer coaching, mentoring, and corrective action as appropriate.
  • Develop and empower team members in the application of Lean tools—facilitation, process mapping, spaghetti charting, and elimination of the 7 wastes.
  • Lead safety compliance, improvement, and awareness in accordance with company safety requirements and guidelines; drive 5S into the production line daily.
  • Coordinate “Pull” signals and shop activities daily; promote one‑piece flow and respond to daily customer demand; support Kanban supermarkets when needed.
  • Support Kanban inventory replenishment in coordination with Planner/Buyers and Material Handlers.
  • Respond to line‑down issues, lead root‑cause analysis, and corrective action plan execution.
  • Assist Lead Associates and team members; keep Facilities/Maintenance informed of any abnormal production or equipment issues.
  • Conduct meetings with Lead Associates (if present in the value stream) as needed; participate in Kaizen events.
  • Review and update ECOs; help approve weekly attendance for temporary team members.
  • Ensure quality standards are met for all products; administer AERCO policies and procedures.
  • Take on additional projects and duties as assigned by the Director, Operations or Company Management.
  • Assume responsibility tied to Watts values:

Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate’s or Technical Degree.
  • Minimum 7+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Successful establishment of employment eligibility and satisfactory completion of background checks, drug screening, and required pre‑employment testing.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
Travel Requirements

5% travel required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to physically move around the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing or using a mouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers in meetings or phone calls.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
Compensation

Expected salary range: $95,000‑$110,000 yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
