Location: New York

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a detail oriented Technical Designer to join our Fit & Tech team to focus on our Tous Les Jours line and bottoms. This person will be an integral part of the production team and will be responsible for running fittings and effectively communicating both cross departmentally and with vendors to ensure that we continue to produce high-quality, well-fitting garments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare samples prior to fitting including measuring and steaming samples, organizing samples by categories
  • Make fit comments to factories and alert the production team if there are any changes to the styles that will affect delivery during fitting
  • Responsible for all updates with reference to fit and construction as well as garment grading
  • Maintain technical database with all updates: graded specs, sketches, photos, fit notes etc.
  • Maintain daily communication with local and overseas vendors.
  • Maintain and update tech packs after all changes due to fabric, wash, pattern changes, fit changes etc.
  • Run production fittings independently. Pinning, re-draping and analyzing fit on a live model
  • Confirm all design details during initial fit with design to determine which styles factories can proceed to 1st fit and making sure PPS are approved for stock to meet production deadlines.
  • Knowledge of pattern corrections ensuring all comments in fittings will be accurately communicated to pattern makers and/or vendors overseas with the ability to recognize discrepancies in the pattern vs. sample
  • Communicate with design, sales, production teams and or vendor’s when required regarding fit and construction details if it affects costing, timeline or aesthetic of design.
  • Review, measure and comment on all TOP’s to overseas and domestic vendors.
  • Track and maintain a T&A calendar.
YOUR PROFILE
  • 4-6 years of technical design experience
  • Degree in fashion design, apparel production or textiles
  • Knowledge of bottoms and tops
  • Knowledge of denim, knit and woven fabric
  • Experience in missy contemporary categories
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of sewing and construction
  • Knowledge of grading a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Being receptive to feedback, willing to learn continuously, and embracing cross‑functions for improvement
