Location: Crum Creek
Operator I – Crum/Ridley Creek Treatment Plants
This role is for Water Treatment Plant Operator I at Crum Creek Water Treatment Plant or Ridley Creek Water Treatment Plant, requiring shift work and permanent shift posting.
Responsibilities- Work at Crum Creek Water Treatment Plant; may be required to report to Ridley Creek Water Treatment Plant and associated facilities as needed.
- Perform labor‑intensive work including lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Operate and maintain plant equipment: pumps, instruments, chemical feed equipment, etc.
- Make mathematical calculations to determine chemical dosing required for flow rates and proper treatment.
- Follow all Aqua safety requirements dealing with hazardous chemical handling and PPE.
- Be available for overtime to maintain continuous plant operations.
- Participate as a member of the Hazmat Response Team if maintained.
- Must obtain and maintain a Waterworks Operators Class A license, with all associated modules required. Employees have 3 years to obtain license; failure results in termination.
- Must obtain a Waterworks license: pass written test; actual license not required until experience/years at plant are met.
- Entry‑level employees must have an associate degree, 2 years of trade school, or equivalent. Alternatively, 2 years of experience in waterworks or similar field requiring mechanical, treatment, and/or mathematical skills.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license; must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, Class C, with Hazardous Materials Endorsement within required time period. CDL requirement: pass knowledge test and secure permit within 60 days; obtain CDL within 120 days. Failure results in removal from position.
- Must pass random drug and alcohol testing, reasonable suspicion testing, post‑accident testing, return‑to‑duty testing, and bi‑annual medical certification.
Hourly rate of pay: $38.91.
All employees hired or entering the bargaining unit on or after December 15, 2022, will receive a $4.00 per hour reduction compared to the classification wage rate. The wage reduction will be returned in $1.00 increases once a year over four years. Employees will receive annual contract increases.
Employee eligibility for job classification changes: must be employed more than 12 months in a Department to be eligible to apply for a job outside of the Department. Employees with 12 months in the bargaining unit but less than 12 months in a department may apply for a higher hourly rate position.
