SUMMARY

Influence, train and communicate with employees to produce quality products while reducing scrap and rework, meeting shipment schedules on time, minimizing cost and maintaining a positive work environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and develop employees
  • Train the employees on procedures within the department
  • Maintain the department with a “5S” philosophy
  • Reduce/eliminate scrap
  • Assist maintenance with maintaining equipment
  • Establish intervals of tooling repair/cleaning
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Confers with management team on setting and adjusting production schedules.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces policies and safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Examines/Inspects materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – supervises a team of 8-10 employees

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree and minimum 5 years Supervisory experience. Mechanical abilities required. Metal Casting and or extrusion experience a plus. Other helpful skills: MRP/Inventory Control;
Lean Manufacturing 5-S; and Quality Control. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Fast pace, hot, and dusty. Requires the use of personal protective equipment (e.g. respirators, hearing protection, safety shoes, flame retardant uniforms, gloves. For a complete listing please see daily PPE log).

WORK SCHEDULE

2 nd Shift

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, from 4:15 p.m. – 12:45 a.m., additional hours required, including Saturdays depending on department workload (which may include longer shift as needed)
