Position Overview

Raytheon’s Field Engineering team is seeking a Senior RADAR Field Engineer for the Advanced Surveillance Systems team. The role involves operations maintenance of advanced surveillance systems in the National Capital Region (NCR) as part of a multi‑disciplined site team supporting mission implementation, testing, and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
  • Routine travel to the Program Systems Integration Lab (SIL) for system familiarization and orientation.
  • Work alternating shifts, on‑call shifts, or a non‑standard schedule, including overnight travel within the NCR on a recurring basis.
  • Extended CONUS travel may be required.
  • Monitor and operate systems, conduct preventive maintenance, and provide on‑call response at system sites from a designated support facility in the NCR.
  • Maintain shift and equipment logs.
  • Populate Field Engineering Notebooks and provide input for data trend analysis and technical publications.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting radar systems or equivalent surveillance equipment, including fault isolation and repair.
  • Experience with current‑generation radar systems operation and testing, basic radar philosophy, power‑up/power‑down, radar initialization, and equivalent system operations.
  • Experience with radar software operations.
  • Experience supporting control systems, cabling, fiber‑optic cabling, and interconnect diagrams.
  • Experience reading and understanding test plans and procedures, design drawings, specifications, and vendor technical documentation for electronic/mechanical systems.
  • Experience configuring CISCO switches, routers, and networking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Self‑starter with excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work with minimal direction.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Windows scripting experience.
  • SQL database scripting.
  • Effective written and oral communication with peers, supervisors, and customers.
  • Basic HVAC and remote backup generator knowledge.
  • Knowledge of electronics, RF concepts and calculations, digital and analog concepts, and troubleshooting skills with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Current DoD Top Secret or Special Access Program clearance.
Security Clearance

Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) required before the first day of employment. The position requires a security clearance and may involve Top Secret or Special Access Program responsibilities.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
  • Eligibility for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depends on level and business unit agreement.
