ABOUT US

Voss Manufacturing is a third-generation, family-owned manufacturing company built on integrity, precision, and the belief that quality work speaks for itself. Rooted in American grit and guided by a future-focused vision, we treat every job and every person with respect. We believe in rolling up our sleeves, doing what’s right (even when no one’s looking), and using our experience and ingenuity to make things better, smarter, and more efficient.

THE ROLE

This is more than just running machines. As a CNC Milling Machinist, you’ll work with state-of-the-art DMG MORI 5-axis, 3-axis, and 4-axis CNC mills. You’ll be programming in Mastercam/CAD at a high level, setting up complex jobs, and producing precision parts that meet tight tolerances. You’ll be trusted with high-spec, low-drama work—built right the first time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO Programming & Production (80%)
  • Write complex CNC milling programs at the machine and offline using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam preferred).
  • Program, set up, and operate DMG MORI 5-axis, 3-axis, and 4-axis mills.
  • Design and build custom fixtures to support accurate machining operations.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions for correct setups and processes.
  • Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories according to part specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust controls for dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect and measure finished parts using precision tools to ensure tolerances are met.
Maintenance & Safety (10%)
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including crane/cart material handling and PPE use.
Documentation & Reporting (5%)
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow work orders and report issues promptly.
Additional Duties (5%)
  • Participate in training and cross-functional support.
  • Continuously improve processes, tools, and workflows.
COMPENSATION
  • CNC Milling - $28-$38 per hour – commensurate with experience and specialty.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. You’ll spend most of your time on your feet and hands-on with machines. All tasks must be performed safely, using proper techniques and PPE as required.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING HERE
  • A welcoming, no-drama culture grounded in integrity, respect, and craftsmanship.
  • The chance to build something real - machines that actually do the work.
  • A seat at the table in a growing company that sees the value in your ideas.
  • Leadership that believes in your potential, not just your past.

________________________________________

This is more than just a design job, it’s a chance to shape the future of manufacturing with a team that’s as humble as they are skilled. If you’re the kind of engineer who takes pride in getting it right—and doing it the right way—we’d love to meet you!

Requirements WHAT YOU BRING
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing or Technical Programming, completion of apprenticeship, or equivalent training.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC milling experience, including advanced programming and setup.
  • Mastercam/CAD proficiency for complex program creation.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, fixtures, speeds/feeds, and inspection tools.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T, and tooling sheets.
  • Strong math, time management, and problem-solving skills.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE
  • Experience with hard milling, heat-treated materials, and multi-axis machining.
  • Familiarity with Renishaw Inspection Plus software or similar probing systems.
  • Understanding of material types and machining characteristics.
