Tool Maker

Perform a wide variety of mechanical, welding, machine and fabrication work required in the repair, modification and development of complex production equipment. Improvise, develop, machine and/or fabricate tools, jigs and fixtures as required. Disassemble, alter, repair, reassemble parts and use machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shears, brakes, punch presses, grinders and more. Thorough understanding of materials, processes and equipment used in completing assigned projects is required.

Keep facilities, material and work area orderly, exercise care in their use, maintain general good housekeeping practices and conform to all ethics, health, safety, compliance and quality requirements.

May be required to recommend design and/or process improvements including documentation, inspect machined or fabricated parts to assess quality, accuracy and acceptability, validate process and resultant documentation and develop techniques and methods to machine, fabricate new or exotic materials.

Shift: Must be able to work any shift. Onsite full‑time at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

• Two‑year mechanical technology degree or equivalent experience with precision machining.
• Experience operating lathes, milling machines, shears, brakes, punch press, etc.
• 20/20 vision (corrected).
• Experience as a toolmaker.
• High school degree or equivalency.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certification.
• Ability to operate computerized documentation and data recording equipment.
• Read, analyze and interpret complicated drawings, change notices, sketches and specifications in written or oral format.

• Certification in MIG or TIG welding (or ability to obtain).

Requires US citizenship. Must obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Base salary range: $37.30 – $40.44 per hour.
