Woodworking Machine Operator – Fine Mill (Syracuse/Manlius, NY)
Stickley is looking for a Utility Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Manlius, NY. This is a hands-on manufacturing role for someone who enjoys working with machinery, values precision, and takes pride in producing quality work. You will operate mechanical and computer-controlled woodworking equipment to create furniture components that become part of Stickley's finished products. You will work with a variety of wood species and materials, read production information and drawings, set up and operate equipment, inspect your work, and help keep production running safely and efficiently.

- Set up and operate mechanical and CNC woodworking machinery to produce quality furniture components
- Read and understand production tickets, part drawings, and manufacturing specifications
- Identify and grade wood species and materials, including Cherry, Mahogany, Oak, Maple, Birch, and veneers, according to Stickley standards
- Make machine adjustments to maintain production requirements and quality standards
- Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, appearance, and overall quality
- Perform and document preventive maintenance tasks
- Communicate equipment, material, and quality concerns to supervisors and team members
- Assist with material handling and machine off-bearing as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Work as part of a team to achieve safety, quality, and production goals
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and workflow
- Previous experience operating woodworking, CNC, or manufacturing machinery preferred
- Experience working with wood or other materials requiring precision and attention to detail preferred
- Ability to identify wood species and make quality grading decisions
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, production tickets, or similar documents
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn multiple machines and processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
