THE ROLE

This is more than just running a lathe. As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you’ll work with state‑of‑the‑art DMG MORI mill‑turn and turning centers. You’ll be programming in Mastercam/CAD at a high level, setting up complex turning jobs, and producing precision components that meet demanding tolerances. You’ll be counted on to deliver quality work the first time—no excuses, no shortcuts.

WHAT YOU’LL DO Programming & Production (80%)
  • Write advanced CNC turning and mill‑turn programs at the machine and offline (Mastercam preferred).
  • Program, set up, and operate DMG MORI mill‑turn and lathe equipment.
  • Design and build custom work holding solutions to support accurate turning operations.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions for correct setups and processes.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and accessories.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust parameters to maintain tolerances.
  • Inspect and measure parts using precision tools to ensure quality standards.
Maintenance & Safety (10%)
  • Perform routine lathe maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of material handling equipment like cranes and carts.
  • Maintain and operate machines with care, using proper PPE and lockout/tagout protocols as needed.
Documentation & Reporting (5%)
  • Maintain accurate records on quantities produced and quality performance.
  • Follow detailed work orders and report deviations or issues as they arise.
Additional Duties (5%)
  • Participate in training and cross‑functional support as assigned by supervisors.
  • Continuously improve your own processes, tools, and workflows.
COMPENSATION

CNC Lathe - $28 - $38 per hour – commensurate with experience and specialty.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. You’ll spend most of your time on your feet and hands‑on with machines. All tasks must be performed safely, using proper techniques and PPE as required.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING HERE
  • A welcoming, no‑drama culture grounded in integrity, respect, and craftsmanship.
  • The chance to build something real – machines that actually do the work.
  • A seat at the table in a growing company that sees the value in your ideas.
  • Leadership that believes in your potential, not just your past.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing or Technical Programming, completion of apprenticeship, or equivalent training.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC lathe and mill‑turn experience, including advanced programming and setup.
  • Strong Mastercam/CAD skills for turning and multi‑axis lathe programming.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T, and tooling sheets.
  • In‑depth knowledge of cutting tools, turning inserts, speeds/feeds, and inspection tools.
  • Solid math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry a plus).
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE
  • Experience with hard turning, high‑temp alloys, and multi‑axis mill‑turns.
  • Familiarity with Renishaw or similar probing systems.
