Operations Management, Production Manager
The General Manager, Roasting and Production will report directly to the Director of Roasting, and will oversee the general operations of the roasting and production processes at Joe Roasting, supervising the team of Roasting & Production assistants and roasters.
The mission is to oversee order processing, quality of packaging and distribution, customer service, and staffing of the roasting, production, packaging, and distribution operation by assisting with innovation and implementation of operational systems, cost management, and staff/labor management.
In summary, this role will be responsible for successful day-to-day operations and act as a leader in service to the roasting and production staff working to fulfill the standards and goals of the production department.
Salary $66,300 – $76,000
Key Responsibilities:Roasting
- Supervise and support the roasting team through managing and scheduling large scale customer orders, including bulk roasting.
- Work with Director of Roastingand Manager, Warehouse Operations, Supply Stream, & Logisticson managing and scheduling roasting for longterm, annual projects such as cold brew and instant production.
- Supervise and support production supplies/inventory, production planning and preparation, workflow, and staffing by developing expert familiarity with all aspects and lines of products, the role and responsibilities of all positions and shifts, and by leading by example.
- Oversight of packaging and distribution quality control. Make sure that bags conform to Joe Coffee Company’s aesthetic standards, including all labeling conventions, and that packaging fulfillment conformsto any and all contract obligations for various items.
- Using effective and compassionate communication skills, synthesize various ordering inputs from different departments and clients, extrapolating the impacts on supplies and workflow, and communicate plans and needs accordingly to the entire Roasting & Production team.
- Work with the Director of Roastingto hire, train, evaluate and shape staff in a meaningful and motivating way.
- Compose and distribute a regular work schedule for the entire department.
- Implement a schedule for staff evaluations, and collaborate with the Director of Roastingor roasting team leadership for reviews of Roasting staff.
- Oversee and manage relationships between various department software systems, with a primary focus of responsibility in Salesforce, and invoice adjustments.
- Support with all certifications, audits, and internal assessments that maintain accountability and external standards, such as NSF and RFA.
- Work with both Director of RoastingandVP of Coffeeto better understand, adjust, and contribute to price, labor, and period to period targets for the department
Relevant Skills, knowledge & ability:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software (Google Docs, Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of CRMs and other production systems or e-commerce software (Salesforce, Shipstation, Wordpress, etc)
- Strong organizational skills
- A minimum of 3 years management experience leading a group of supervisors and team members in an operational environment
- Willing to train candidates with positive, team-oriented, problem-solving attitudes
- English
- Safety (equipment, food) and/or efficiency training preferred but not required (forklift training, OSHA compliance, HACCP, etc).
- Ability to work standing and moving in a non-climate-controlled environment
