Assembler, Manufacturing ​/ Production

Rochester Precision Optics LLC is seeking an Assembler to build high-precision optical components and assemblies for imaging, aerospace, defense, and medical applications. In this role, you will follow detailed work instructions and drawings to assemble lenses, mechanical housings, and subassemblies using hand tools and precision equipment. You'll inspect parts, document results, and collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve issues. This position offers hands-on experience with advanced optics in a clean, collaborative environment focused on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assemble optical components and subassemblies following detailed work instructions and engineering drawings
• Handle, clean, and inspect lenses, prisms, and mechanical parts to ensure they meet quality standards
• Use basic hand tools, fixtures, and precision measuring devices to align and secure components
• Perform in-process inspections and document results in production and quality records
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve assembly issues and improve processes
• Follow cleanroom, ESD, and safety protocols to protect delicate optical components
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly store parts and assemblies
• Meet daily production goals while maintaining accuracy, quality, and traceability
