Position: Paint & Powder Coat Prepper (1st & 2nd Shift)
Location: Walmore

Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the prepping of machined and fabricated components that require paint, powder coat or other customer required finishes. The role will involve using various hand tools (sander, grinder, scotch brite wheel, etc.) to prep parts for required finishes.

Essential Duties:

Prepping
  • Prep parts according to engineering drawings, bill of materials, specifications, and/or procedures.
  • Safe and proper operation of the hand tools required to prep required parts.
  • Determine specific prep requirements per part, select or identify appropriate hand tools or supplies to meet customer specifications.
  • Establish and follow all prep work and inspection procedures.
  • Utilizing hand tools; grind, polish, debur, clean, rack and protect designated surfaces and features in preparation for the finishing process.
  • Observe machine gauges, hand tools and equipment operation to detect defects.
  • Sort, identify, protective wrap and prepare parts for in-house use or shipment to customers and vendors.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of hand tools, paint booth, wash booth, spray booth, baking ovens, and paint shop rooms.
  • Proper and safe use of safety equipment and material handling equipment such as hand tools, respirators, fork truck, cranes, carts, etc.
  • Operate hand measurement tooling to inspect part accuracy.
Other duties as requested:
  • Special projects as requested by supervisor.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering technical drawings for material finishes, masking requirements, etc. preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools and techniques, their correct applications, and proper use preferred.
  • Capable of using handheld inspection tools such as tape measure, etc. and understanding the correct application for each preferred.
Experience

Required:
  • No related experience required, some experience preferred.
Qualification Standards:
  • High school diploma or equivalency minimum.
  • Degree or certificate from a related technical/vocational trade program preferred.
