Plant Manager – Ready-to-Eat Food Manufacturing

has been retained by a rapidly growing, approximately $500 million ready-to-eat food manufacturer to recruit an experienced Plant Manager for its Brooklyn, New York, facility. The company operates seven manufacturing facilities throughout the Northeast and Midwest and offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
This highly visible leadership position is responsible for the overall performance and operational excellence of a high-volume food manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, and cold-storage facility. The Plant Manager will oversee production, warehousing, maintenance, sanitation, safety, quality, and logistics while developing a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all plant operations, including production, packaging, warehousing, sanitation, maintenance, safety, quality, and logistics.
- Manage production scheduling, capacity planning, labor utilization, and workforce requirements.
- Monitor and improve KPIs related to production output, labor efficiency, downtime, waste, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and applicable customer and third-party standards.
- Maintain plant readiness for regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.
- Lead and develop managers and supervisors across production, warehouse, maintenance, quality, and related functions.
- Oversee frozen storage, fresh-product warehousing, inventory control, FIFO/FEFO practices, and cold-chain compliance.
- Support preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, refrigeration systems, and facility improvement programs.
- Develop and manage plant operating budgets, cost-reduction initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
- Partner with corporate leadership, finance, quality, and supply chain teams on strategic initiatives.
- At least 5–8 years of progressive leadership experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods.
- Minimum of two years in a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or comparable senior operations leadership position.
- Experience managing a large, high-volume food manufacturing and packaging operation.
- Experience leading large teams; oversight of 150 or more employees is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with cold-chain operations, frozen storage, and fresh-product warehousing is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success improving productivity, labor efficiency, quality, safety, waste, and operating costs.
- Working knowledge of ERP, WMS, and manufacturing management systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish capabilities are highly preferred.
