Position: Milk Transfer Operator (12 Hour Nights - Rotating Weekends)
Location: New York

Position Overview

Receive and load milk while maintaining high food quality and food safety standards. Hook up and unload tankers, run quality tests on milk and Clean-In-Place (CIP) tankers. Ensure the work area is kept clean and sanitary and perform regular sanitation within the raw milk receiving building.

Shift Schedule

12 Hour Nights: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, rotating 2-2-3 schedule. Two days on, two days off, three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off. Work every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Shift differential of $2 per hour for night shift.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety, working, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) rules. Keep the work center audit ready.
  • Report to and follow the direction of Processing Supervisors.
  • Ensure milk is received within specifications and meets all food safety and quality requirements.
  • Inspect, document, and transfer products from supplier to designated raw material silo.
  • Receive and load milk, byproducts, and filtration ingredients from tankers while maintaining high food quality and safety standards.
  • Test and document milk loads.
  • Clean process equipment such as silos, lines and tankers, including hand cleaning, CIP and COP operations daily.
  • Take accurate samples to monitor CIP chemical concentration and products for QA testing.
  • Monitor testing equipment and replace supplies as needed.
  • Service pumps, valves and heat exchangers per routine Preventative Maintenance schedule.
  • Report immediately to maintenance or supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning equipment, external hauler equipment, and drivers.
  • Follow escalation protocol based on production and quality triggers.
  • Aid in training new personnel or upskilling team members.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and complete shift sanitation tasks accurately.
  • Communicate with processing about any anticipated schedule delays or changes.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Work safely and efficiently; follow all safety procedures and use safety equipment.
  • Have the ability to troubleshoot small problems and identify when to seek input from higher authorities.
  • Willingly ask for assistance when processes are unclear.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • High school level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational skills and simple math reasoning.
  • Operate equipment effectively after required break‑in period.
  • Possess or be able to obtain an Industrial Truck Operator License.
  • Proficiency in English; comfortable with both written and verbal communication.
Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements

The position requires standing, walking on uneven concrete and tile surfaces, lifting up to 60 pounds occasionally, with lifts over 100 pounds handled by two or more employees. Tasks include pushing/pulling pallets and equipment, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders, and reaching below or above shoulder level during cleanup, equipment service, or adjustment. Ambient temperatures may reach up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit due to equipment operation and cleaning.

  • Understand, observe, and comply with the color‑coded container policy in Production Areas.
  • Perform duties to meet Company, Customer, and Government requirements and standards.
  • Initiate action to prevent nonconformities related to Food Safety and product quality.
  • Identify and record any problems related to Food Safety and quality systems.
  • Control processing or delivery of nonconforming product until resolved.
  • In case of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume duties.
