Formerly Incarcerated Non-Profit Seeks Social Media Marketing & Communications
Social media specialists will plan and execute social media strategies, create and publish content to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, Tik Tok, and You Tube. They will seek to grow our following and our audiences. They will measure the results by tracking metrics and insights on each platform.
Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:
- Develop content for social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, You Tube, Linked In, and other digital platforms.
- Provide on-site/virtual event support and assist the team with event planning and community relations. This includes speaking with members of our programs.
Qualifications, Credentials and Technical Skills required:
- Education and experience in social media. Previous experience should include evidence of your ability to build followers on these platforms.
- Education or experience in public relations, communications or marketing; previous internship experience considered a plus.
- Strong writing, proofreading, social media and research skills. Graphic design, video and HTML/content management experience preferred.
- Know-how to produce communications in multiple formats, including digital, print and broadcast.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to ask questions when in need of direction or clarification.
- Creativity and passion for philanthropic communications and non-profit marketing. Desire to continue learning and growing.
Volunteer opportunities are available in the fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters.
Because this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, Witness to Mass Incarceration is happy to provide recommendations or references for all volunteers. In terms of volunteering credit, some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an volunteer opportunity. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
