Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Copywriting is a strategic content leader responsible for defining, governing, and scaling brand voice across all written communication channels. This role sets enterprise-level content strategy, establishes governance standards, and leads copy managers and writers to deliver best-in-class written content aligned with business growth objectives.

This position partners cross-functionally with Creative, Growth Marketing, Commercial, Retail Media, and Compliance teams to ensure copy enhances brand equity while driving measurable performance across domestic and international markets.

The ideal candidate combines creative leadership with commercial acumen and understands the nuances of marketplace-driven content strategy (Amazon, Walmart, DTC).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Brand Voice & Content Governance

Own and evolve brand voice, tone, and content pillars across all brands and channels.

Establish and govern tone-of-voice standards across packaging, web, e-commerce, email, social, and integrated campaigns.

Ensure channel-specific adaptation while maintaining brand consistency.

Advocate for copy strategy as a critical input in all content production phases.

Leadership & Talent Development

Directly manage copywriters at all levels.

Oversee freelance and third-party copy delivery partners.

Coach and develop copy talent, establishing growth pathways and performance expectations.

Provide executive-level guidance on copy optimization and scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Creative, Growth Marketing, Commercial, Retail Media, and Compliance teams to align messaging with business objectives.

Align messaging with keyword strategy, conquesting initiatives, and defensive brand positioning.

Serve as a senior stakeholder in creative reviews and leadership discussions.

Performance & Optimization

Own copy performance metrics including engagement, SEO ranking, conversion, and content-driven revenue lift.

Ensure copy aligns with platform-specific best practices (Amazon, Walmart, DTC).

Oversee global content alignment, including international standards and shared content databases.

Operational Excellence

Lead large-scale launches, multi-brand campaigns, and enterprise initiatives.

Establish scalable workflows, governance standards, and best practices.

Manage concurrent deliverables while anticipating deadlines and shifting priorities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct management of copywriters at varying levels.

Oversight of external agencies and freelance partners.

Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent professional experience.

Experience

6+ years of professional copywriting experience, including leadership roles.

Minimum 5–7 years of copywriting experience preferred.

CPG, beauty, or fragrance industry experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing managers or senior copy professionals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Expertise in brand voice strategy and cross-channel storytelling.

Ability to translate commercial goals into measurable content strategies.

Strong understanding of SEO and marketplace optimization.

Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and experience tracking performance metrics.

Exceptional grammatical, technical proofreading, and editing skills.

Strong stakeholder management and executive presentation skills.

Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position operates in a professional office environment where safety, environmental, and health standards must be observed.
Regularly required to read, write, analyze, and review complex written materials.
