Position Summary:
Ames Watson is a private holding company with over $2 billion in revenue that purchases, transforms, and partners with companies to create long-term value. Our strategy is based on bringing more than just capital to companies — we bring know-how, problem solving, deep resources, and operational experience to help companies grow.
We are seeking a Marketing Manager to support cross‑functional brand and marketing initiatives across the Ames Watson portfolio. This role will report to the SVP of Marketing and serve as a trusted partner to portfolio company leadership teams, helping to elevate marketing capabilities while respecting the unique dynamics of each business. The ideal candidate is naturally proactive, thrives in fast‑paced environments, and enjoys the variety that comes with supporting multiple companies at different stages of growth.
You'll work collaboratively across our portfolio to strengthen marketing operations and drive meaningful results.
- Partner with portfolio company leadership to understand business objectives and help translate them into practical marketing strategies and initiatives.
- Participate in leadership meetings across portfolio companies, capturing key insights, decisions, and action items to ensure alignment and momentum.
- Take initiative on follow‑through: coordinate next steps, send meeting recaps, and help keep projects moving forward across multiple work streams.
- Proactively assess portfolio company marketing operations to identify opportunities for improvement, then work collaboratively to implement solutions.
- Support performance marketing, eCommerce, and brand teams across the portfolio with campaign execution and optimization.
- Develop and maintain brand standards, templates, and resource libraries that can be shared across the Ames Watson portfolio.
- Build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders across portfolio companies, adapting your approach to fit each team's culture and needs.
- Get up to speed quickly when working with new portfolio companies, learning their business model, competitive position, and marketing priorities.
- 6‑8 years of marketing experience in brand management, marketing strategy, or marketing operations — ideally with exposure to consulting, agency, or multi‑brand environments.
- Experience working in a consultative or support capacity where you've helped others achieve their goals.
- Strong business sense and the ability to understand different business models and what drives success in various industries.
- Natural curiosity and attention to detail — you enjoy understanding how things work and spotting opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, service‑oriented approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Self‑motivated work style with the ability to identify priorities and take initiative without needing constant direction.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Practical mindset with the ability to make progress with the information available rather than waiting for everything to be perfect.
- Background working across both B2B and DTC marketing with different types of products or business models.
- Experience working with leadership teams, particularly in growing or transforming businesses.
- Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, , Trello) and digital marketing platforms.
- You enjoy variety and the opportunity to work across different brands and industries rather than focusing on just one.
- You're naturally proactive — when you see something that needs attention, you take care of it rather than waiting to be asked.
- You're a good listener who picks up on both what's said and what's not said in meetings, and you follow through on the details.
- You work well in environments that move quickly and where priorities can shift, understanding that progress matters more than perfection.
- You appreciate the autonomy that comes with supporting multiple companies and the trust that requires.
- You're energized by building relationships and helping others succeed, even when you're not getting direct credit.
- You're comfortable figuring things out as you go and don't need a detailed playbook for every situation.
