Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $65,000.00 Annually
Intrepid Museum is looking for a full-time Public Relations Coordinator who will be responsible for assisting in the development and coordination of publicity programs to support media objectives of the institution’s programs, events and business goals. In addition, this role will develop and edit content for the Museum’s various distribution channels.
The position reports to the Director of Public Relations.
Responsibilities- Assist with coordination of the Museum’s day-to-day public relations activities alongside internal PR team and PR agency;
- Help develop and implement publicity-oriented media strategies to generate local, national and international press coverage to advance the Museum’s mission, exhibits, programs and executives;
- Vet and respond to incoming requests from media;
- Manage on-site film/TV shoots, interviews and other media events;
- Draft press materials, media advisories, and talking points;
- Cultivate working relationships with reporters at print, broadcast and online media outlets;
- Assist in planning, staffing and media coordination during the Museum’s major events, festivals, ceremonies and public programs;
- Generate creative multi-channel content (e.g. website, social media, email blasts, internal communications, blog) for Museum audiences and stakeholders;
- Write, fact-check and edit copy while adhering to the Museum’s style guide, messaging and brand;
- Monitor relevant industry news and gather Museum coverage to create media recaps, reports and summaries;
- Serve as a PR liaison for Senior Space Advisor, coordinating press engagements and relevant social media posts;
- Perform other duties as required by management.
Qualified candidates must have 2-3 years relevant publicity or editorial experience, preferably at a PR agency, cultural institution or non-profit. Strong written and oral communication skills, event coordination and media relations abilities. Demonstrated evidence of media outreach and placements with an ability to organize and manage multiple tasks. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
Ability to work select weekends, holidays, early mornings and evenings as necessary. A BA/BS degree in communications, marketing or related field is preferred but not required.
