The Social Media and Communications Manager serves as a digital missionary for the Office of Youth Ministry, Young Adult Ministry & the University Apostolate. This role is responsible for evangelizing and promoting the teachings of the Catholic Church through an active, engaging, and catechetical online presence. The manager works to reach youth, young adults, and college students, drawing them into a deeper relationship with Christ and connecting them to parish life, college ministry, and Archdiocesan programs through digital communications and media, while representing and amplifying the ministry work, events, and initiatives of over 120 youth ministries, young adult ministries, and campus ministries throughout the Archdiocese of New York.

Responsibilities- Serve as the office’s lead for social media strategy, digital communications, and content creation across platforms in support of youth ministry, young adult ministry, and the university apostolate/campus ministry.
- Manage all office social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, You Tube, X, Tik Tok, podcasts, and future platforms as appropriate.
- Develop and implement engagement and growth strategies to increase reach, visibility, and participation among youth, young adults, and college students.
- Monitor and stay current with social media trends, platform updates, and emerging digital tools, adapting content strategies to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
- Create and utilize short-form video content (e.g., Instagram Reels, You Tube Shorts, Tik Tok), storytelling, and interactive media to foster meaningful engagement and digital evangelization.
- Create, publish, and curate digital content that supports evangelization, catechesis, testimony, and outreach, including sharing stories of faith, conversion, and participation in parish life, youth ministry, young adult ministry, and campus ministry across the Archdiocese of New York.
- Capture, edit, and curate photos and videos at events to promote Archdiocesan ministries, office-hosted initiatives, and the lived faith of youth, young adults, and college students.
- Manage and update the office website, ensuring that all events, initiatives, and resources are accurately posted and maintained.
- Submit and manage events for inclusion on the Archdiocese of New York website and official Archdiocesan calendar, and coordinate promotion through digital channels.
- Prepare, manage, and distribute the weekly Archdiocesan e-newsletters for Youth Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, and the University Apostolate, coordinating incoming event information and promotional priorities.
- Analyze basic performance metrics (such as engagement, reach, and growth) to inform content planning and continuous improvement, as directed.
- Assist with graphic design, podcast production, monthly Archdiocesan Young Adult Mass coverage rick’s Cathedral, and other special projects as assigned by the director.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Committed to living and able to articulate the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Strong proficiency in social media platforms, website management, and digital communications.
- Demonstrated experience using video and photo editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Cap Cut, or equivalent software.
- Familiarity with additional content creation and design tools that support digital storytelling and visual communication.
- Photography, videography, and audio editing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to attend evening and weekend events and travel within the Archdiocese as needed.
Compensation range for this position is: $66,300 - $68,000 annually.
Position DetailsThis position is considered exempt and not eligible for overtime.
