Location: New York

The Marketing & Communications Specialist Volunteer will support the development and implementation of NAAMH’s communications and marketing initiatives. This role is responsible for helping increase awareness of the organization’s mission, programs, and resources through strategic messaging, digital communications, and content development. This individual will work closely with leadership to ensure that NAAMH’s messaging remains consistent, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s goals.

As NAAMH continues to grow, responsibilities within this role may evolve and will require flexibility and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing marketing strategies to increase awareness of NAAMH’s mission and programs.
  • Support the promotion of events, programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities to expand the organization’s visibility and community reach.
  • Develop written and visual content for digital platforms including social media, newsletters, and website updates.
  • Assist with storytelling initiatives that highlight athlete mental health advocacy and organizational impact.
  • Ensure messaging reflects NAAMH’s mission, values, and voice.
  • Support the management of NAAMH’s social media platforms.
  • Create and schedule posts to increase engagement and awareness.
  • Monitor engagement and help identify opportunities to grow the organization’s online presence.
  • Assist with drafting communications such as newsletters, announcements, press releases, and promotional materials.
  • Help maintain consistent messaging across all communication platforms.
  • Support internal communication efforts when needed.
  • Work closely with leadership and other volunteers to ensure marketing efforts align with organizational goals.
  • Assist in promoting partnerships, events, and initiatives developed by other teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or current study in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks remotely
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • Interest in nonprofit work and mental health advocacy
  • Equivalent professional or volunteer experience may substitute for formal education.
