This role sits at the intersection of product management, editorial asset utilization, commercial strategy, and customer insight.

About the Role

As VP, Commercial Product and Content Strategist, you will define the commercial direction of WSJ Pro across product vision, content experience, packaging, and commercial opportunities. You will blend customer insights and market signals with information architecture principles to shape a clear, highly valuable, and scalable product‑and‑content narrative.

You Will

1. Define Product Vision & Content Architecture

  • Shape the long‑term vision for WSJ Pro as a premium enterprise offering anchored in trusted journalism, AI‑driven utility, and Dow Jones B2B capabilities.
  • Audit and discover high‑value content with editorial, audience insights, and data teams, and collaborate with the product team to optimize how these assets are surfaced, packaged, and delivered across the platform and APIs.
  • Identify high‑value assets for specialized WSJ Pro verticals to increase customer lifetime value.
  • Translate product and content choices into clear narratives that align Product, Editorial, Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership.
  • Guide new features, newsletters, and API capabilities using B2B buyer and user personas.

2. Design the Content Experience & Discovery Journey

  • Shape the commercial strategy for AI‑driven capabilities such as automated industry summaries, custom alerts, and personalized news streams.
  • Refine content discovery pathways by mapping consumption habits to distinct buyer and user personas.
  • Optimize the value perception of content with Editorial and UX Design teams, ensuring complex information is presented in intuitive formats.

3. Shape the Commercial Path & Packaging Strategy

  • Define the commercial model for WSJ Pro, aligning feature differentiation, content entitlement structures, and product packaging to drive enterprise growth.
  • Collaborate with commercial, sales, and finance stakeholders on pricing direction, bundle logic, and opportunities tied to platform integrations, APIs, and future industry modules.
  • Inform the strategic product path from MVP to advanced offerings, identifying content gaps or integration opportunities for rapid new‑logo acquisition and expansion.
  • Translate technical product features and content packages into clear, compelling B2B value propositions.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Acquisition teams to refine core value propositions, positioning, and launch strategies.

4. Bring Market and Customer Insight into Commercial Strategy

  • Synthesize market research, user testing, and customer feedback to refine content selection and prioritization.
  • Identify unmet user workflow opportunities and determine how WSJ reporting combined with Dow Jones data assets can solve professional friction points.
  • Monitor emerging B2B information trends, digital media formats, and competitor content strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Generate deep audience insights by defining consumption trends, identifying behavioral signals, and translating habits into actionable go‑to‑market recommendations.
You Have
  • 20+ years of experience in product strategy, content strategy, product management, digital media strategy, or information architecture.
  • Proven experience in a B2B, media, SaaS, subscription, or financial/information‑services environment.
  • Strong background in B2B product positioning, defining ideal customer profiles, and translating user behavior into go‑to‑market messaging and revenue growth.
  • Ability to connect content curation, information design, and product features with commercial outcomes and go‑to‑market execution.
  • Experience or comfort working with multi‑product or multi‑audience portfolios to map, bundle, and deliver text and data for maximum engagement and retention.
