Micato Safaris is seeking an experienced writer to join our team to create guest-facing communications that shape every stage of the safari experience. You will craft safari proposals, itineraries, planning information, guest correspondence, marketing materials, and other communications that help travellers discover, prepare for and enjoy a Micato safari.

The ideal candidate combines strong storytelling ability with exceptional clarity in a sophisticated “voice”--but not superciliously so. You know how to paint a picture but also understand that luxury travellers expect information to be organised, accurate, and easy to understand.

For 60 years, family-owned Micato Safaris has been creating luxury safaris throughout East and Southern Africa and India. Micato has been voted the #1 World's Best Safari Outfitter by Travel + Leisure a record ten times and remains the only safari company inducted into the Travel + Leisure Hall of Fame.

We also have a deep commitment to community development and education through our affiliated non-profits, America Share and Huru International, whose programmes have improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of students and families.

• Write and maintain safari proposals, itineraries and guest communications.
• Create compelling descriptions of safari experiences, destinations, activities, camps and lodges.
• Translate complex travel information into clear and organized, yet engaging and sophisticated language.
• Develop planning materials that help guests prepare for safari.
• Write selected marketing materials, including email campaigns, advertisements, brochure copy, website content, travel advisor communications and other brand-building initiatives.
• Adapt your writing style to suit different audiences from prospective travellers to confirmed guests, travel advisors, and other travel industry partners.
• Edit and proofread materials to ensure consistency, accuracy and adherence to the Micato brand voice.
• Collaborate with Safari Specialists and other departments to gather information and improve guest-facing documentation.

• Comfortable moving between inspirational storytelling and detailed informational writing.
• Naturally curious and willing to ask questions to fully understand the subject matter.

• Organised and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Someone who understands that the best writing is usually the result of thoughtful revision.

• 10+ years of professional writing experience for luxury brands.
• Experience writing for affluent consumers.
• Demonstrated excellence in long-form and short-form writing.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating both storytelling and informational writing.
• Salary: $75,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience
