Development, Marketing & Social Media Intern

The Rising Together Theater Co
New York, NY

DESCRIPTION

The Rising Together Theater Company is seeking a passionate, creative intern to help launch our fall fundraising campaign and support the development of new theatrical work.

Our mission is to produce original plays that inspire audiences to imagine and build a more just, equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world. By confronting systems of supremacy, militarism, inequity, and environmental harm, our work encourages dialogue, civic participation, and community action across generations and identities.

If you're interested in the intersection of theatre, social justice, environmental advocacy, fundraising, and digital storytelling, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Depending on your interests and experience, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Help develop and execute our fall fundraising campaign
  • Create social media content and storytelling strategies
  • Assist with donor outreach and stewardship
  • Research grants and help prepare grant applications
  • Develop marketing materials for new play workshops and public events
  • Support communications that connect audiences to our mission
What You'll Gain

This internship offers the chance to build a portfolio with real-world work, including:

  • Social media campaigns
  • Grant writing and development materials
  • Donor communications
  • Marketing content for new play development
  • Nonprofit fundraising strategy

You’ll also gain firsthand experience with a theatre company using the arts to foster civic engagement and inspire dialogue around social justice and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about theatre, nonprofit work, or community engagement
  • A strong writer and communicator
  • Organized, collaborative, and self-motivated
  • Interested in marketing, development, communications, or social media
  • Experience is welcome but not required—we're happy to work with someone eager to learn.
Compensation

This internship is currently unpaid, though we are happy to work with colleges and universities to provide academic credit where available.
