About the Role

MUBI is seeking an Exhibitor Relations Director to lead and expand strategic relationships with major theater circuits, independent cinemas, and influential arthouse exhibitors across North America.

This role sits at the center of MUBI's theatrical distribution team, serving as the primary liaison between the company and exhibition partners in North America. The Exhibitor Relations Director will help shape and execute theatrical release strategies, oversee exhibitor marketing initiatives, and develop partnerships that maximize audience engagement and box office performance across MUBI's growing slate of theatrical releases.

The ideal candidate is an experienced relationship-builder, strategist, and operator with deep knowledge of the theatrical landscape and a passion for bringing distinctive films to audiences through innovative exhibition partnerships.

For team members based in New York, we work hybrid‑remote where we require 3 in‑office days. Our core days are Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, with the flexibility to use our offices on the remaining two days if you wish.

We are also open to applications from candidates based in Los Angeles, and remote throughout the US.

Where you’ll have impact:
Exhibitor Relations & Release Strategy
  • Serve as MUBI's primary point of contact for exhibition partners across national circuits, regional chains, independent theaters, and arthouse cinemas.
  • Secure theatrical sales and maintain strong theatrical support for MUBI releases through ongoing exhibitor relationships, strategic negotiations, and collaborative release planning.
  • Work with exhibitors to maximize screen placement, playdates, holdovers, expansion opportunities, and audience engagement initiatives.
  • Represent MUBI at industry events, exhibitor conferences, screenings, trade shows, and Cinema Con.
Theatrical Marketing & Partnerships
  • Lead exhibitor‑facing marketing initiatives, including trailer placement, lobby materials, digital campaigns, promotional partnerships, and premium format opportunities.
  • Develop and manage exhibitor‑specific marketing programs and budgets across theatrical releases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align theatrical campaigns with broader distribution, marketing, publicity, and audience development strategies.
  • Manage relationships with premium exhibition partners, including IMAX, Dolby, Barco, D‑BOX, and other emerging technologies.
Screenings, Events & Operations
  • Oversee premieres, advance screenings, filmmaker appearances, Q&A's, promotional screenings, research screenings, and special theatrical events.
  • Coordinate event execution with exhibitors, filmmakers, talent representatives, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the delivery and placement of theatrical marketing materials, including trailers, key art, one‑sheets, signage, and promotional assets.
  • Ensure seamless execution of in‑theater campaigns and audience‑facing initiatives across MUBI's release slate.
Planning, Reporting & Team Leadership
  • Build campaign presentations, release calendars, exhibitor communications, and strategic planning materials.
  • Monitor box office performance, market trends, competitive releases, and exhibitor feedback to inform theatrical strategy.
  • Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership on exhibitor engagement and campaign effectiveness.
What you’ll bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in exhibitor relations, theatrical distribution, studio relations, or a related field.
  • Strong relationships within the North American theatrical exhibition community preferred.
