As an intern, you will be an integral part of a team focused on advising clients with matters ranging from reputational crises, media engagement, corporate positioning, and communication strategies.

At DGA, you will work alongside experienced communications professionals in our New York office, gaining hands‑on industry experience and individualized mentorship. This role will sharpen your strategic communications instincts, deepen your understanding of complex reputational dynamics, and build your ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑stakes environments.

  • The 2026 fall semester runs from September 8 to December 18
  • Applicants must reside in the U.S. throughout the internship semester
  • Applications are accepted until filled
  • This is a paid internship program

Location

Intern will be based out of our New York City office; hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office

As an Intern, You Will
  • Provide support for client accounts through background research, drafting press releases, updating media lists, and the preparation of scenario plans and crisis strategy documents.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of communication strategies through media monitoring and pitch development.
  • Learn how to conduct research using analytical and monitoring tools.
  • Support new business development efforts through industry research and memo writing.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Strategic Communications team on various projects and day‑to‑day activities.
What We Are Looking For
  • Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills – display a general understanding of the strategic communications industry and the current media landscape.
  • Ability to manage time and work against fast‑paced deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with multiple projects, balance assignments, and shift priorities on short notice.
  • Attention to detail and adapt across client work streams.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and ask questions
Qualifications
  • Full or part‑time internship opportunities are available, but candidates must have the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Must be currently pursuing, or have recently completed, an undergraduate or graduate‑level program. Undergraduate applicants must be at least a rising junior.
  • Must be a collaborator with can‑do attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and comparable programs.
  • Previous experience in communications, marketing, policy, journalism, and consulting is appreciated.
