About the Cities & Public Affairs TeamBerlin Rosen’s Cities practice comprises over 70 communications professionals who work with clients in New York, Los Angeles and other major cities on issues including healthcare, urban planning, affordable housing, issue advocacy, social impact, public affairs, higher education, real estate, travel, lifestyle, arts & culture, and more. The Public Affairs team collaborates with thought leaders and major advocacy groups.
About This RoleBerlin Rosen is seeking an Account Coordinator to join the Public Affairs team. This role focuses on supporting strategic communications plans by owning media relations, project management and writing tasks. The role covers issues cities face in New York and beyond, including land use, housing, sustainability, economic development and health care. The candidate should have excellent writing and organizational skills and relevant experience in strategic communications, journalism, political campaigns or government.
Role location: This role is based in our New York, NY office on a hybrid basis. The Cities team is in-office 3 days per week.
Accountabilities and QualificationsAs an Account Coordinator on the Cities & Public Affairs team, you will…
- Implement strategy, creative brainstorming and campaign planning for multiple high-profile accounts
- Pitch and place media stories across local, regional and national outlets; build and maintain press lists
- Write and edit external and internal documents such as client emails, press releases, fact sheets, talking points, media pitches and communications plans
- Oversee day-to-day communications with clients, including staffing weekly calls, developing meeting agendas, press coverage and event recaps and participating in events
- Manage work streams across multiple accounts
- Assist in the execution of public affairs tactics, including stakeholder engagement, in-person and digital grassroots organizing and paid advertising
- Support teams at client media events
Essential skills:
- Internship or relevant experience in strategic communications from politics, government, advocacy, PR agency, media outlet or in-house communications team
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work with a team to meet objectives
Salary (commensurate with experience and skills): $66,300
Note: This role is based in our New York office and follows a hybrid work model.
