This is a hands-on leadership role for a polished, technically savvy professional who is equally comfortable setting strategy with firm leadership and personally building the function at the firm.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, write and produce high-quality marketing collateral (pitch decks, capability statements, practice group overviews, proposals, RFP/RFI responses, case studies, attorney biographies), maintaining a centralized library of pitch content, experience lists and matter descriptions for quick, accurate assembly.
  • Build visually sophisticated, client-ready presentations under tight deadlines with minimal supervision via PowerPoint.
  • Establish brand standards across all firm messaging, materials, including templates, logo usage, etc.
  • Manage firm website, attorney biographies, digital presence and social media, coordinating with outside vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute firm-wide and practice-specific business development plans with firm leadership, informed by market, client, prospect and competitive intelligence research.
  • Prepare attorneys for pitch and client meetings (research, materials, talking points, anticipated questions, follow-up strategy). Attend pitches, client meetings, conferences and industry events, representing the firm professionally.
  • Drive cross-selling initiatives and support attorney business development plans with accountability and follow-through, coaching partners and associates on positioning and follow-up discipline.
  • Manage the firm's conferences, sponsor ships, speaking engagements and client events, including selection, budgeting, logistics and ROI analysis.
  • Track pitch activity, wins, losses and pipeline, reporting results and lessons learned to firm leadership.
  • Manage legal directory and awards submissions (Chambers, Legal 500 and comparable rankings).
  • Manage and optimize the firm's CRM and marketing technology, including data integrity, mailing lists, campaign tracking and analytics, ensuring all activity complies with applicable attorney advertising and professional responsibility rules.
  • Other Ad hoc projects and assignments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business, English, Journalism or a related field. Legal Marketing Association certification is a plus.
  • Seven plus years of progressive marketing and business development experience, with substantial experience in a law firm environment. Mid-sized law firm experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of producing pitch and proposal materials that resulted in new client engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with and influencing senior decision makers.
  • Expert-level PowerPoint skills. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate design ability.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or Canva.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM or other comparable marketing platforms.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, search engine optimization fundamentals, email marketing and digital analytics.
  • Experience with competitive intelligence and research resources such as Monitor Suite, Pitchbook or Lexis is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for conferences, client meetings and firm events, including occasional overnight and out-of-state travel.
