Marketing Manager (Brand & Content) — Slipstream Music
Location: New York, NY (onsite)
Reports to: CEO
Comp: $90K–130K base
Team: Individual contributor; may grow into a small team as scope proves out
About Slipstream MusicSlipstream Music (), formerly Slip.stream, is the largest production music licensing platform in the world. Our catalog has grown to 1.5M human-made songs, and we've already built a suite of AI tools on top of it. The goal is straightforward: build the largest library of its kind, matched with technology that makes it effortless to search and use.
We license music to media companies, businesses, and brands, including Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Expedia, and Monster Energy.
Slipstream Music is a mature, established business, but we operate like a startup. We've grown by acquiring smaller, well established companies in this space, including Jingle Punks, 5
Alarm, Cavendish, and Megatrax. Those names are well known in production music circles, but not much beyond them. We're now consolidating that trust and reputation under one brand:
Slipstream Music.
We're hiring our first dedicated marketing lead, focused on brand and content, to fix that.
Who You Need To ReachAwareness needs to be built with specific buyer personas across these segments, in roughly this priority order:
- Enterprise brands (CPG, beauty, apparel, retail) and DTC/challenger brands — VP/Director/Head of Social Media, Digital Marketing, or Content (Brand Marketing only as a fallback)
- Video/social creation platforms (integration/partnership play) — Head/VP/Director of BD, Partnerships, Product, or GTM
- Digital media/publishers and sports & entertainment — Director/VP of Content or Brand Partnerships
- Agencies (social-first) — lower priority as direct buyers, but valuable for referral influence into brand accounts
- Gaming/interactive — Head/VP of Marketing or Brand
This is a competitive category with several well-known incumbents. Part of the job is making Slipstream Music legible and differentiated against that competitive set, not just building awareness in a vacuum.
The RoleWe need a hands-on brand and content marketer, not a function-builder with hiring authority. You'll own how Slipstream Music talks about itself across web, social, and sales materials, and you'll do the writing, the campaigns, and the production yourself.
First 90 days: Own brand positioning and messaging, with a specific focus on establishing Slipstream Music — not our legacy acquired brands — as the name our media, business, and brand clients trust and recognize.
Ongoing: Build and run the content engine — blog, social, case studies, and brand assets that support both sales and organic growth.
What You’ll Own- Brand positioning, voice, and narrative for a B2B audience of media companies, businesses, and brands
- Content strategy and production: written content, social, case studies, and campaign creative
- Messaging for new product launches and features
- AEO/GEO (answer engine / generative engine optimization): ensure Slipstream Music surfaces accurately and favorably when buyers query AI tools (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) for production music licensing options
- Structuring web and content assets (site copy, case studies, comparison pages) to be legible to both traditional search engines and generative AI answer engines
- Monitoring how Slipstream Music, and legacy brand names, are represented in AI-generated answers, and correcting gaps or inaccuracies
- Day-to-day execution — this is a builder/doer role, not a manager-of-managers role
- 2 prior roles where you've built a track record you can point to concretely — specific campaigns, content, or positioning work you owned and can show results for. We're looking for someone ready to step up into their first lead brand/content role, not someone who's already done this at scale elsewhere.
- Strong writing and content instincts; comfortable being the primary producer of content, not just the strategist
- Bonus: experience with a rebrand, brand consolidation, or making an unknown name credible against better-known competitors or legacy brands
- B2B brand/content marketing experience is a plus
- Bonus: familiarity with competitive positioning in a crowded category (vs. known incumbents, not building a brand from a blank slate)
- Bonus: prior experience specifically with AEO/GEO (answer engine / generative engine optimization) — this is a newer, distinct skill from traditional content/SEO and isn't assumed under a general "strong writer" background
- No specific industry background required — prioritizing skill and output over music/media pedigree
- Clear, differentiated positioning live across the site, sales materials, and client-facing channels within 90 days
- A consistent content cadence (owned channels + campaigns) running by month 4-6
- Measurable lift in brand awareness/engagement metrics agreed upon with CEO in the first 30 days
