Job Summary
The VP, Head of Brand & Marketing Strategy will report directly to Pay Pal’s Chief Marketing & Corporate Affairs Officer and serve as the senior leader responsible for defining, evolving, and transforming the Pay Pal brand in support of the company’s next phase of growth, creating a unified “One Pay Pal” brand experience across consumer and merchant touchpoints while driving the strategic planning processes that align marketing investments with enterprise growth priorities.
Anchored in the strategic intent to build the most trusted and emotionally compelling brand in fintech, a distinctive Pay Pal identity that earns consumer and merchant affinity, travels consistently from architecture through scaled production, and gives every product, business, and market a platform worth building on, this executive will serve as a critical member of the Marketing Leadership Team and act as the connective tissue between brand vision and business strategy across Pay Pal’s portfolio of products and businesses.
- Build the most trusted and emotionally compelling brand in fintech, a distinctive Pay Pal identity that earns consumer and merchant affinity, travels consistently from architecture through scaled production, and gives every product, business, and market a platform worth building on.
- Lead integrated brand and marketing strategy development, connecting brand investment to business outcomes and ensuring all brand‑building efforts ladder up to enterprise and business unit growth priorities.
- Partner with the Chief Marketing & Corporate Affairs Officer and executive leadership team to shape long‑range marketing strategy, define the marketing operating model, and prioritize investment across brand, performance, and product marketing.
- Serve as the strategic planning leader for the Marketing function, owning the annual planning process, portfolio prioritization, and marketing investment frameworks in close partnership with Finance and cross‑functional leadership.
- Drive brand research and consumer insights to deepen understanding of brand health, perception, and equity, and translate findings into actionable strategy for leadership and agency partners.
- Lead the evolution of Pay Pal’s global brand architecture, positioning, and portfolio strategy, creating a unified platform that strengthens relevance, differentiation, and growth across consumer and merchant businesses.
- Lead brand positioning and messaging frameworks that are durable, differentiated, and able to stretch across a diverse product portfolio.
- Lead major brand transformation initiatives tied to enterprise strategy, ensuring the Pay Pal brand evolves alongside the company’s business priorities, product portfolio, and customer needs.
- Establish and run Pay Pal’s Brand Office; develop and enforce global brand standards, approval workflows, partner toolkits, and co‑marketing guardrails.
- Lead brand education and enablement across marketing teams, agencies, and commercial partners.
- Lead Creative Operations to increase production efficiency and velocity; drive innovation through automation, AI integration, and new production models.
- Own global sponsorship portfolio and experiential marketing strategy; manage agency relationships, budgets, and quality standards; measure ROI and optimize the portfolio.
- Represent the brand and marketing strategy function with executive leadership, Pay Pal’s Board, and external stakeholders, communicating brand performance, strategy evolution, and investment rationale with clarity and confidence.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive brand, marketing strategy, or integrated marketing leadership experience within large‑scale, global, and highly matrixed organizations.
- 8+ years serving as the senior brand or strategy leader for a major consumer‑facing business or brand within a complex technology, financial services, or similarly fast‑paced global organization.
- Proven track record leading significant brand transformations, repositioning efforts, or portfolio evolutions that created measurable business impact and changed customer perception.
