Overview

The Advertising Product Marketing team is focused on gathering and distilling market feedback to inform product and business decisions, while serving as product experts with internal stakeholders, driving product education, adoption, and revenue.

Partnering closely with Product, Revenue Operations, Sales, our creative studio T Brand, and The Times Newsroom, the team ensures our advertising offering is clear, competitive, and drives value for our customers. By guiding the development of performant advertising solutions and delivering effective storytelling, the Product Marketing team helps The Times become the most effective media partner.

Location & Hybrid Work

This is a hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters, reporting to the Director, Product Marketing, Ad Product & Platform. You can typically expect to work in the office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Gather feedback on products and solutions and competitive offerings by spending time in market, proactively scoping and guiding research to deepen product and audience understanding.
  • Use market and competitive intelligence to advocate for audience needs with internal stakeholders and inform product decisions. Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and the Newsroom to develop competitive offerings for advertisers and agencies.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Operations to package and price advertising products thoughtfully and competitively.
  • Develop product positioning and messaging frameworks by using existing insights and identifying opportunities for new insights.
  • Partner with leadership and stakeholders to develop strategies to increase audience engagement and lead go‑to‑market initiatives for priority advertising products.
  • Drive go‑to‑market activations including sales enablement, internal communications and training, client and media engagement, inbound and outbound marketing. Collaborate with parallel teams as needed.
  • Project‑manage product launches, ensuring seamless execution through milestones and stakeholder alignment, and represent projects to senior leadership.
  • Identify and address opportunities for process improvement by leveraging internal resources and external vendors.
  • Demonstrate support for the value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of direct product marketing, marketing strategy, go‑to‑market, or relevant experience managing external‑facing products.
  • Understanding of the advertising and digital media landscape.
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven storytelling skills, informing business case development.
  • Excellent customer empathy and intuition for client needs.
  • Experience informing product or marketing decisions with qualitative customer insights.
  • Demonstrated success in creating compelling, user‑friendly, external‑facing assets and collaterals that drive tangible shifts in customer behavior.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization while staying focused on results, responding quickly to evolving threats and opportunities.
  • Comfortable speaking in a variety of settings, including one‑on‑one, with senior leadership, and in front of large groups.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in the industry is strongly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits

Annual base pay range: $100,000 – $115,000 USD.

Variable pay may be available, such as annual bonus and restricted stock. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; flexible spending accounts; company‑matching 401(k) plan; paid vacation, sick days, and parental leave; tuition reimbursement and professional development programs.
