NYC CPG / COMMERCIAL STRATEGY PEOPLE:
This is NOT a “keep the trains running” opportunity.
The Talent Magnet is actively recruiting for a newly created Manager, Commercial Strategy search for a fast-growing, entrepreneurial consumer products company with a portfolio of well-known brands.
And what makes this opportunity particularly interesting is what hasn’t been built yet.
This person will have the opportunity to help shape the Commercial Strategy function, create the business review process, and become an important connective point between Sales, Brand Marketing, Innovation and the broader business.
We’re looking for someone who LOVES data — but doesn’t stop at reporting what the numbers say. You see something interesting and immediately ask:
Why is this happening?
What are we missing?
Where is the white space?
And what should we do about it?
You’ll work across syndicated data such as Nielsen/Circana
, consumer and panel data, retailer performance and internal business data — taking enormous amounts of information and turning it into a clear commercial story that senior leaders can actually act on.
The ideal candidate brings:
- 5 years of strong CPG/Beauty commercial strategy, category, insights or analytics experience
Fluency with syndicated and consumer/panel data
Experience building or materially shaping QBRs / comprehensive business reviews
The ability to bridge Sales and Brand/Marketing perspectives
Intellectual curiosity — someone who keeps digging until they understand the WHY
Confidence influencing stakeholders through facts rather than title
A genuine builder mentality — comfortable creating something where the playbook isn't already written
Beauty experience is certainly attractive, but it is not required. Great commercial thinkers can come from food & beverage, personal care, household products, wellness or other consumer categories.
And there’s one more important piece:
This is an opportunity for someone who wants autonomy. The hiring leader isn't looking to tell someone which slides to update. He wants to provide context, tools and direction — then have someone come back with thoughtful analysis, recommendations and ideas.
If you're a commercially minded CPG strategist who can move from:
…I’d love to hear from you.
