Location: New York

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a small, collaborative team with a growing list of titles. You will gain meaningful exposure to all aspects of book publishing and report directly to the Publishing Director and Marketing Director in this high-visibility role.

The Spiegel & Grau Marketing and Publicity Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide creative and administrative support for marketing and publicity campaigns, including actively participating in the brainstorming process to support campaign execution through researching relevant media targets, influencers, book clubs, and more
  • Assist the publicity team with crafting media pitches, press releases, author Q&A, excerpts, and op-ed and essay ideas
  • Assist the marketing team with S&G's social media presence, including the creation of social media assets and scheduling posts
  • Assist the marketing team with S&G's newsletter, including writing copy, planning, and building in Substack
  • Assist the publicity team with planning and coordinating author tours, travel, and providing support for authors when they are on tour
  • Assist in the creation of designed assets, including ads, postcards, and digital promotion graphics
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with authors, agents, media, vendors, and internal teams
  • Provide administrative support, including but not limited to mailings, filing, printing materials, scheduling meetings, event prep, and coordinating with vendors
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Genuine interest in publishing, including a love of reading
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up promptly
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to share your ideas
  • 1-2 years of book publicity experience, including assisting with author tours
  • Experience with social media and newsletter platforms, including Instagram and Substack
  • A willingness to learn and problem-solve
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Canva, and video editing

This is a hybrid position that will require coming into the New York City office 4 days a week. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices on the Upper West Side, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & NY).
