Through original dance theatre productions, community engagement, and comprehensive in-school dance programs, we create meaningful connections across diverse audiences. Amanda Selwyn Dance Studio also serves as a home for creativity, rehearsal, and education in the heart of Manhattan.
Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly organized and creative Archive and Social Media Coordinator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the categorization, archival, and strategic organization of visual content (video and photography) across Vimeo, Google Drive, and social media platforms. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our rich archive is accessible, searchable, and effectively leveraged across departments for promotions, communications, website, grant applications, and social media campaigns.
In addition to archival duties, the Archive and Social Media Coordinator will take a lead role in managing social media content and engagement, and support broader marketing efforts across the organization. The position reports directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager. This part-time role will report to the Amanda Selwyn Dance Studio for work 20 hours/week, with some work at NYC Public Schools supporting our dance education programs throughout NYC.
They will work a consistent part-time schedule with some flexibility to support performances and events on evenings and weekends throughout the Season.
- Schedule and coordinate photographers and videographers to document ongoing performances and events of both our professional company , Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre, and our Notes in Motion dance education programs to capture quality content in real time for archival, marketing, and fundraising purposes.
- Organize, categorize, and maintain the digital archive of performance and educational content (photos, videos, testimonials, curricula, performance programs, etc,) in Vimeo, Google Drive, and internal systems.
- Tag, label, and log photo and video assets with relevant metadata for easy retrieval.
- Maintain bibliography, showcases, albums, and portfolios to feature and highlight strong and focused content for sharing across departments for promotions, communications, website, grant applications, and social media campaigns.
- Establish systems and best practices for ongoing archival processes.
- Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications Manager, Artistic Director, Director of Education, and staff team to identify content priorities and gaps.
- Coordinate communication and logistics for all photo and video shoots (staffed by professionals or in-house as priorities deem appropriate).
- Catalog historical and current media assets for use across departments.
- Plan, create, and schedule regular posts ( 3 main-feed posts/week on ASDT & NIM Instagram/Facebook accounts, 1-2 main-feed posts/week on Studio Instagram/Facebook account, and 2 posts/week on Linked In, plus regularly posting on Instagram stories across all three accounts ) across all of our platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, Tiktok, and others.
- Maximize audience engagement through strategic storytelling and timely content deployment.
- Use insights and analytics to assess performance and adjust strategies for growth and visibility.
- Curate content from archival materials, live events, and studio programs to maintain a dynamic and engaging presence.
- Stay informed about social media trends and best practices in the arts sector.
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Program/Development Associate to repurpose archived content for:
- Website updates and multimedia integration.
- Promotional materials, newsletters, and donor communications.
- Grant applications and reporting.
- Assist in developing and executing content calendars for marketing campaigns.
- Format and prepare media for use in email, print, and web-based communications.
- Contribute creative ideas for campaign themes and storytelling approaches.
- Assist in flow of documentation and promotion for current performances, programs, and events.
- Support marketing of Amanda Selwyn Dance Studio classes, residencies, and events.
