Public Relations Account Executive, Technology

HCM is looking for an Account Executive to join our growing technology practice.

Our client roster spans early-stage startups building entirely new categories, later-stage companies preparing for major growth moments, and publicly traded businesses navigating complex corporate communications. This role offers the opportunity to work across all of them.

You'll be deeply involved in the day-to-day media relations work, including pitching, product and company launches, funding announcements, executive visibility, reviews programs, and corporate news. You'll work closely with an Account Manager who leads the overall strategy, while taking ownership of media outreach and execution across your accounts.

• Pitch and secure coverage across technology, business, financial, and national media
• Develop thoughtful, timely media angles around product launches, funding announcements, company milestones, and industry trends
• Manage embargo and exclusive outreach for launches, funding rounds, and corporate announcements
• Build and maintain targeted media lists based on current beats and reporter interests
• Develop relationships with reporters, editors, producers, product reviewers, and industry contacts
• Manage product review programs, including seeding, outreach, follow-up, and coverage tracking
• Monitor funding, M&A, earnings, competitor news, product launches, and broader category trends for relevant opportunities

Writing, materials, and account support

• Draft press releases, pitches, media alerts, executive bios, talking points, briefing documents, and other client materials
• Turn technical information, product specifications, company milestones, and financial results into clear, accessible storytelling
• Prepare founders and executives for media briefings and interviews
• Maintain media trackers, coverage reports, launch timelines, and client recaps
• Collaborate with HCM's affiliate, influencer, social, and events teams to support integrated campaigns and launches
• Stay organized across multiple accounts, deadlines, and fast-moving news cycles

• 2–4 years of public relations experience, ideally agency-side with technology, startup, consumer tech, or corporate communications clients
• Strong media relations and pitching skills, with experience securing earned media coverage
• Experience supporting product launches, funding announcements, embargoes, exclusives, or review programs
• Strong writing skills and the ability to simplify technical or complex information
