Public Relations Senior Account Manager - Finance focus

A leading public relations and strategic communications firm is seeking a Senior Account Manager with a strong finance background to join our firm in our New York office.

• Support in managing client accounts and own responsibility for day-to-day, as appropriate, with a focus on clients in the finance industry.
• Ensure overall maintenance of account infrastructure, including content calendars, social posts, website updates, etc.
• Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to ensure client program success; participate actively in account team strategy sessions and brainstorms
• Own media relations for your client teams, leveraging established, active relationships with tier-one financial press (e.g., WSJ, Bloomberg, Financial Times, Reuters, CNBC) and key industry trade outlets to secure proactive coverage
• Dissect complex financial products, metrics, and macroeconomic trends, translating them into clear, engaging narratives for mainstream and niche audiences
• Build thought leadership platforms for C-suite executives around complex economic topics, monetary policy, or fintech innovation
• Participate in and conduct media training sessions and media interviews
• Demonstrate ability to effectively develop a full range of materials including strategic plans, press materials, social copy, digital content, client correspondence, and more

• Serve as a mentor to junior employees and interns
• Deliver constructive and clear feedback to ensure level requirements are met and correct action is taken when necessary
• Advocate for continued learning and personal growth by understanding how to lead and manage multiple people from diverse backgrounds
• Participate / lead one or more agency committees / initiatives for agency growth
• Participate in new business pitches including research, brainstorm, and presentation
• Develop initiatives that help shape the direction of the company and serve in an active role of knowledge-sharing
• 4+ years of professional experience at a public relations agency or as part of an in-house communications team, with significant finance, fintech, or corporate B2B experience required
• Demonstrated track record of landing feature stories and commentary in top-tier business and financial publications
• Familiarity with financial compliance, market disclosure rules, and regulatory bodies (e.g., SEC, FINRA, FCA, or CFTC depending on jurisdiction), and experience working closely with internal legal and compliance teams to ensure external communications adhere to fair disclosure and advertising regulations
• Experience executing communications strategies around fundraising rounds (Series A-C+), M&A activity, or strategic investments (for venture-backed/growth clients); or direct experience with investor relations alignment, quarterly earnings announcements, annual reports, and shareholder communications (for public company clients)
• Track record of navigating high-stakes issues and crisis communications (e.g., market downturns, regulatory inquiries, executive transitions, or cybersecurity incidents)
• Experience providing guidance or mentorship to junior team members
• Expertise with traditional and non-traditional PR strategies and tactics
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Self-starter and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines, and driving multiple projects across the finish line at once
• Strong aptitude and interest in financial and business writing
• Exceptional attention to detail, follow-up, and organization skills

Salary range: $110-140K plus generous benefits package
