Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Communications & Events Manager for a growing, purpose-driven organization focused on transformational programming, communications, and community engagement. This is a temp-to-hire, hybrid position based in Lower Manhattan, New York, with approximately 1–2 days of in-person work per week depending on events, meetings, and business needs.
POSITION OVERVIEW:The Senior Communications & Events Manager will serve as a strategic partner to organizational leadership, translating ideas and business priorities into compelling communications, engaging content, and well-executed programs. This highly visible role combines executive communications, content development, marketing and media support, event operations, and participant engagement within an entrepreneurial and evolving environment. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator and relationship builder who can move seamlessly between strategic thinking and hands‑on execution while creating a welcoming and thoughtful experience for program participants.

- Lead the planning, coordination, and onsite execution of monthly in-person events, including schedules, materials, participant communications, vendor coordination, logistics, and day-of operations.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to organizational leadership, translating ideas, priorities, and business objectives into clear communications and actionable plans while anticipating needs and potential challenges.
- Draft and edit executive communications, presentations, talking points, speeches, biographies, correspondence, website copy, email communications, and other high-quality written materials.
- Develop thought leadership, Linked In and social media content, promotional materials, participant communications, and other brand-focused content while supporting broader marketing and media relations initiatives.
- Cultivate an exceptional participant experience by creating a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment while maintaining discretion and protecting confidentiality.
- Collaborate with media professionals, marketing partners, vendors, and other external stakeholders while identifying participant stories and testimonials and securing appropriate permissions for their use.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation development skills with the ability to translate ideas into polished communications for varied audiences.
- Experience partnering closely with a founder, entrepreneur, senior executive, or other high-level leader as a trusted and proactive communications partner.
- Strong event and project management capabilities, including experience independently coordinating live events, seminars, conferences, or participant-focused programs.
- Strategic, organized, resourceful, and self-directed approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and comfortably navigate a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
- High emotional intelligence, discretion, sound judgment, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and/or Dropbox, presentation tools, and virtual meeting platforms.
- This position offers a competitive pay rate of $50 per hour and is expected to begin at approximately 25–30 hours per week , with the potential to grow toward 40 hours per week as the organization expands.
- This is a temp-to-hire opportunity, with an anticipated temporary period of approximately 2–3 months and the potential to transition into permanent employment based on mutual fit.
