Overview

Brad Lander for Congress is seeking a bilingual AAPI Organizing Lead to support community engagement, organizing and voter turnout in AAPI communities in NY-10. Organizing leads will play a key role in building grassroots support, engaging with voters, and supporting non-electoral community organizing efforts with our organizing partners. Reporting to the Organizing Director, Organizers will be responsible for developing volunteer engagement strategies that focus on high retention, training Volunteer Leads to independently manage direct voter contact shifts as well as ideating and implementing creative voter outreach plans that target areas with lower voter turnout.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual passionate about community organizing and capable of thriving in a fast-paced political environment.

• Manage a team of Volunteers and Volunteer Captains to implement voter outreach plans by setting goals that fit within the campaign’s overall organizing strategy.
• Build relationships with neighborhood organizations and identify potential partnerships and allies for non-electoral organizing.
• Help develop organizing strategies and plans to turn out AAPI voters.
• Plan and execute community events such as town halls, rallies, and meet-and-greets with the candidate.
• Coordinate voter outreach efforts in communities with limited English proficiency and AAPI communities across NY-10.
• Conduct voter registration drives and educate constituents on the campaign’s platform and policies.
• Identify additional needs for voter education and, under Organizing Director, develop plans to meet those needs.
• Assist with translation work and community review of translations as needed.

• Bilingual (Chinese/English).
• At least one cycle of working or volunteering in a field role on a political or community organizing campaign (strongly preferred).
• Experience organizing and training volunteers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in voter contact tools (e.g., VAN, NGP) and Google Workspace.
• Familiarity with organizing turfs in Sunset Park and MH Chinatown (preferred).

• Has a desire to learn and a willingness to receive constructive feedback;
• Believes in volunteer leadership and community organizing which will be centerpieces of this campaign
• Has strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously.
• Has a passion for progressive politics, inclusive organizing models and a commitment to the candidate’s vision.
• Has the flexibility to work irregular and long hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Can be resilient under pressure and always carries a positive attitude.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in New York’s 10th Congressional District, reporting into the Organizing Director, with a base of 50 hours per week throughout the spring with the expectation of more hours per week as Election Day approaches.

This is a salaried position with a pay band of $5,000-$6,500 per month with an additional $1,000 monthly healthcare stipend.
