About QCH
Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.
Our HistoryQCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.
Friendly Visiting ProgramQueen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community. The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness among seniors in our neighborhoods and communities.
Volunteer Requirements- Friendly visitors must be 18 and over.
- Open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism.
- Provide 2 non-familial references.
- Consent to a background check.
Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, play board games and much more!
