Role OverviewWe are seeking a Volunteer HR Recruitment & Volunteer Engagement Specialist to lead MAP’s efforts in attracting, onboarding, and retaining dedicated volunteers. This role will focus on recruitment outreach, candidate screening, and volunteer recognition while ensuring all HR processes are aligned with MAP’s mission and culture. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, a passion for people-centered work, and experience supporting volunteer-driven organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract diverse volunteers
- Post and manage job descriptions across platforms (Idealist, Linked In, and similar outlets)
- Screen applications, coordinate interviews, and support selection processes
- Collaborate with HR leadership to refine onboarding, training, and orientation programs
- Build relationships with colleges, universities, and community organizations to expand outreach
- Track volunteer engagement, hours, and retention data
- Coordinate recognition initiatives and events to celebrate volunteer contributions
- Provide support and serve as a point of contact for volunteers throughout their service
- Experience in HR, recruitment, volunteer management, or nonprofit administration
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to engage and build relationships with diverse groups of people
- Familiarity with recruitment tools and volunteer platforms
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Gmail)
- Commitment to MAP’s mission and values
- Experience managing or supporting volunteer programs in nonprofits
- Knowledge of HR compliance and onboarding best practices
Familiarity with CRM or volunteer management systems - Event coordination or volunteer recognition experience
- Hands-on experience leading volunteer recruitment and engagement for a growing nonprofit
- Opportunities to strengthen HR, outreach, and people management skills
- Collaboration with a mission-driven and passionate leadership team
- Direct contribution to sustaining the volunteer base that powers MAP’s work
- Letters of recommendation and professional references for future opportunities
