Young Investors Society (YIS) is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering high school students with the financial literacy, investing knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in life. Over the past decade, YIS has reached tens of thousands of students across the U.S. and around the world.
Our flagship event, the Global Youth Investment Summit (GYIS), takes place each May in New York City and brings together top students, educators, alumni, and finance professionals for two days of competition, learning, and inspiration.
We are now looking for a highly organized, creative, and mission-driven Events Coordinator to work closely with our Executive Director and play a central role in delivering GYIS — while also supporting our broader development and growth efforts.
The RoleThis position blends large-scale event management with development and stakeholder engagement
. You will be the operational quarterback behind GYIS and a key partner in strengthening relationships with board members, volunteers, alumni, and supporters.
The position will start as part-time, 20 hours per week, with the possibility to expand in the future. Over-time will be compensated around GYIS.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project timeline for GYIS, including logistics, marketing, registration, and programming milestones
- Secure and manage venue logistics, room blocks, catering, and all A/V requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for keynote speakers and industry panelists, ensuring they are fully briefed and prepared
- Design and manage the full run of show
, including emcee scripts, speaker flow, and on-site execution - Prepare all presentation decks and materials for A/V display during the event
- Lead all on-site operations (“boots on the ground”), managing volunteers and troubleshooting in real time
- Oversee the attendee registration process end-to-end
- Lead pre-event communications, including email campaigns, social media updates, and website content related to the summit
- Recruit and coordinate YIS alumni and college students to serve as event staff and ambassadors
- Collaborate with YIS board members to identify ways they can support and engage with the event
- Track event expenses and manage the GYIS budget to maximize impact
- Create a post-event report for the YIS board, including outcomes and key learnings
- Design and analyze a student survey to assess the participant experience
- Coordinate and send personalized thank-you notes to volunteers, judges, speakers, and partners post-event
- Work closely with the Executive Director on development initiatives tied to GYIS and broader YIS fundraising efforts
- Support donor, partner, and board engagement related to events and programming
- Strong project and event management experience (nonprofit, education, or conference experience a plus)
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders: students, volunteers, board members, speakers, and partners
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Calm, solutions-oriented mindset — especially under pressure during live events
