Position Summary
The West Side (WS) Youth Ministry Manager is a core member of the Youth Ministry team, with the primary responsibility for leading our High School Ministry. This individual also contributes to the overall development of West Side Youth (grades 6-12). This is a wonderful opportunity for someone transitioning from volunteer to professional ministry, taking experience and education and applying it in a practical environment.
West Side Youth is focused on sharing Christ’s transforming message with all NYC youth in a place where they will be seen, heard, respected, and valued. West Side Youth is a relational community that meets youth where they are at through authentic, discipling relationships. Our goal is to equip and empower youth to know God, become disciples of Jesus Christ, and to be released into their God-given talents, gifts, and callings.
Responsibilities
with High School Ministry
Under the leadership of the Youth Director, help create and lead theologically grounded, culturally relevant, and engaging discipleship environments for high school youth through large groups, small groups, Bible studies, social events, and outreach opportunities.Build meaningful relationships with youth and volunteers by providing spiritual encouragement, mentorship, prayer, and consistent relational presence both within and outside ministry programming.Support the broader mission of West Side Youth by assisting with outreach initiatives, parent meetings, family ministry events, retreats, mission trips, and other key discipleship experiences.Responsibilities with the Youth Ministry Team
Collaborate with the Director and Sr. Manager to align ministry programming with the vision of West Side Youth, helping develop long-term ministry goals, discipleship strategies, and family ministry integration.Oversee and execute the administrative, logistical, and operational needs of the ministry, including communication, scheduling, volunteer onboarding, event coordination, reporting, budgeting support, database management, and compliance with church safety policies.Help plan, coordinate, and improve West Side Youth programming and events throughout the year—including retreats, mission trips, outreach events, and social gatherings—while maintaining an engaging ministry presence both in‑person and online.Responsibilities with the Redeemer West Side Staff Team
Participate in regular RWS staff meetings, trainings and eventsRegularly worship at Redeemer West Side on Sunday mornings to allow for congregation interactionUpdate the RWS ministry calendarLiaise with the RWS Communications Manager regarding WSY eventsLiaise with RWS Ops and Events staff regarding WSY programming and eventsTimely communication on internal platforms (Slack, Asana, Tallie, etc.)Actively attend Redeemer West Side, pursuing meaningful involvement in the life of the church and working toward membershipQualifications
Available to work evenings, weekends, and a flexible ministry schedulePassion for Redeemer’s vision and serving youth and families in NYCCommitted to the Gospel and the theology of the Reformed faithUndergraduate degree or equivalent ministry experience preferredMature Christian character with integrity, humility, adaptability, and a teachable spiritStrong team player who thrives in dynamic environments and handles confidential information with careAble to serve and connect well within a culturally and socio‑economically diverse communityWilling to embrace all aspects of youth ministry, including behind‑the‑scenes responsibilitiesDemonstrate flexibility and a willingness to work within the unique rhythms of ministry life, including evenings, weekends, and non‑traditional hours common to serving youth and families in New York CitySkills / Experience
Excellent communication, service and interpersonal skillsProven ability to teach Bible, theology, and Christian discipleship to youth and adultsMinimum of 2 years experience (volunteer or paid)…
