Position Summary
Christ Church is a small, Gospel-centered Anglican congregation of about 70 people in New York City, currently independent but exploring affiliation with an Anglican diocese. The mission is to make disciples of Jesus, who make disciples of Jesus, for the glory of God (Matthew 28:18-20).
Reporting StructureThe Interim Pastor will report to the Trustees and Church Council. The three part‑time staff will report to the Interim Pastor, who will provide oversight and guidance.
Duration and ContractThe role is 4-6 months, with possible 2‑month extensions. Either party may terminate the contract with one month’s notice.
Responsibilities- Lead and plant the weekly Sunday services, including sacramental duties such as Communion and Baptism, with a commitment to expositional Bible preaching.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the part‑time staff, including monthly staff meetings, regular 1:1 meetings, and care for the facilities coordinator.
- Oversee community groups, providing weekly sermon follow‑up questions and equipping leaders with refresher training and spiritual guidance.
- Care for the congregation through pastoral visitation, shepherding, and steady pastoral care.
- Engage with the Church Council in the season of change, providing Biblically shaped wisdom as the church considers future identity and possible diocesan connection.
- Support vision casting for the Children’s ministry.
- Speak at the church retreat on October 30 & 31, 2026, including leading 3–4 Bible sessions.
- 10+ years of pastoral experience.
- 5+ years of church administration experience.
- Ordained minister.
- Ability to reach every Sunday, ideally preaching through expositional methods.
- Experience leading and planting Sunday services.
- Experience leading communion, the Lord’s Supper, and conducting baptisms.
The candidate could provide direction and pastoral input for events such as Women & Men’s Impact weekends, and be available to support ministry leaders serving teams.
Compensation$13,350–$15,900 per month (annualized $160,000–$190,000), commensurate with experience. For ordained, commissioned, or licensed ministers, part of compensation may be designated as a Minister’s Housing Allowance in accordance with IRS regulations. Accommodation is not provided.
