Assistant Director of Development, LAG & Discovery
Location: Syracuse, NY
Employment Type: Full-time, exempt (S5)
Pay Range: $63,000 - $66,000
Responsibilities- Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of approximately 150 leadership annual giving donors in the Mid‑Atlantic and Central New York regions through phone, email, correspondence, and face‑to‑face visits.
- Conduct about 100 discovery visits annually to assess donor inclination, capacity, and affinity.
- Document outcomes, next steps, and stewardship actions in the CITRUS database.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Advancement & External Affairs division on strategies to maximize fundraising effectiveness.
- Support The Hill Society growth by identifying prospective members, facilitating stewardship, and supporting engagement initiatives.
- Analyze data to prioritize outreach and meet solicitation goals.
- Contribute to research accuracy and alumni record data quality.
- Participate in leadership annual giving initiatives and special projects.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
At least two years of successful fundraising or related nonprofit/higher education experience.
Valid enhanced driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
Skills and Knowledge- Experience with leadership annual giving and layered solicitation approaches.
- Strategic donor‑centric solicitation planning and execution.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to build a case for support.
- Independent and collaborative problem‑solving and critical thinking.
- Personal drive to meet and exceed annual goals; flexibility and adaptability.
- Successful track record in personal solicitations and building donor relationships.
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit preferred.
