The Position
The Director of Development at AJC Westchester/Fairfield is responsible for leading the region's comprehensive development strategy and growth. He or she will identify, cultivate, engage and steward existing donors and prospects, manage fundraising events, and advise and serve as a subject‑matter expert.
Responsibilities- Partner with the Regional Director and leadership to develop and implement a fundraising plan that advances AJC's goals, strengthens the pipeline, and increases donor affinity.
- Develop, oversee and facilitate fundraising campaigns, programs, events, and initiatives.
- Identify, research, cultivate, engage, solicit, and steward existing donors and new prospects, including major donors, foundations and private sector support.
- Collaborate with committees, task forces and working groups.
- Manage and mentor the development team with a focus on professional development.
- Leverage resources to raise awareness and support for AJC and its initiatives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and budgets for development activities and events.
- Create reports, analyze metrics and assess impact.
- Advise and support assigned departments with development strategies and initiatives.
- Develop relationships with strategic contacts, groups and organizations.
- Design and disseminate reports and marketing resources to cultivate donor interest and secure funding.
- Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred); minimum 10 years of professional fundraising experience.
- Track record of success in developing and implementing fundraising plans and stewarding donors.
- Systems‑oriented, data‑driven leader with strong fundraising operations skills.
- Experience fundraising for policy and advocacy.
- Strong management skills and experience building a committed, achievement‑focused team.
- Analytical, organized, proactive, detail‑oriented with strong prioritization skills.
- Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Creative, strategic thinker with excellent project management and cross‑functional skills.
- Strong follow‑through and proven ability to set and meet deadlines and benchmarks.
- Team player who works effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Deep personal commitment to AJC’s mission and core values.
- Willingly work outside standard hours when needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom.
Competitive salary range $170,000 to $180,000; three weeks' paid vacation, additional sick and personal leave, paid holidays; health, dental and vision plans; 403(b) participation after one year; hybrid work model with flexible work‑from‑home options.
