The Skatepark Project is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved communities create safe, inclusive public skate parks. Through our Harold Hunter Programs, we provide free community-based programming that supports mentorship, mental wellness, and career pathways for youth. Skateparks serve as critical “third spaces,” providing safe environments for young people to build confidence, develop skills, and connect with supportive peers and mentors.
By removing barriers and creating consistent programming, we contribute to improved physical health, social connection, and long-term opportunity for youth. As the Program Recruitment Coordinator VISTA, you will build systems that allow more young people to access these opportunities. You will strengthen relationships with schools and community organizations, develop outreach pipelines, and create tools that support consistent, scalable recruitment. This role focuses on capacity building—ensuring that outreach, communication, and recruitment efforts are structured, effective, and sustainable over time.
Through this experience, you will gain skills in community outreach strategy, partnership development, systems building, and program growth while contributing to an organization expanding access and opportunity for underserved youth.
The VISTA will be part of the 26-27 Coach Across America national VISTA cohort of 64 members. The Program Recruitment Coordinator VISTA will increase scale and reach by developing systems that expand outreach and participant recruitment for Harold Hunter Programs. They will research and track outreach opportunities, build databases of schools and community partners, and develop tools to support recruitment and communication efforts.
The VISTA will coordinate outreach with partners, document recruitment and enrollment processes, and create systems that ensure consistency across programs. They will also track engagement and participation data, supporting continuous improvement of outreach strategies and expanding access to programming for youth.
