Position Overview

Philanthropic Officer or Senior Philanthropic Officer

Full Time position within the Office of Advancement, Leadership Gifts.

Remote – may work fully from an approved remote location within CT, GA, MA, NJ, OH, PA, RI, VA, TX, and NY. Occasional travel to campus or office may be required.

Hiring Wage/Salary Range: $100,000–$115,000 or $110,000–$130,000 (Senior Philanthropic Officer).

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of experience in higher education fundraising, sales, non‑profits, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, cultivate, and steward relationships with major gift prospects and donors to secure resources for Colgate’s mission and campaign priorities.
  • Apply prospect qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to increase engagement levels.
  • Create and execute solicitation strategies that maximize prospect giving potential while aligning institutional priorities with donor intent.
  • Navigate relevant technology systems used in advancement, using data to inform decision‑making while maintaining confidentiality of private or confidential information.
  • Build strong working relationships with Office of Advancement colleagues, university administrators, faculty, and staff to professionally address opportunities and concerns.
  • Meet performance metrics established by the Office of Advancement.
  • Engage in extensive travel to meet with prospects, staff events, and campus meetings, including on‑campus and off‑campus events.
  • Participate in on‑campus Division Meetings and staff the yearly Reunion, as well as other university events to engage with campus life.
