Position: Democratic Campaign Manager (State Legislature)
Location: New York

Democratic Campaign Manager (State Legislature)

Opportunity to run a campaign for state legislature (Senate) in New York. You will report directly to the candidate in conjunction with the NYS DSCC and will be responsible for overseeing all campaign operations. The campaign will be highly competitive and we are seeking a passionate and driven Democratic operative who is a priority‑driven multitasker that performs well under pressure and can effectively time manage.

We are currently accepting applications from candidates across New York State, but please understand that there will be travel so a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation are required.

Locations we are specifically looking for
  • Capital Region/Albany, NY area
  • Long Island/Suffolk County
  • Rochester, NY/Western NY area
  • Southern Hudson Valley
Ideal candidate would possess
  • At least two previous campaign cycles of experience
  • At least one previous campaign cycle at director or deputy campaign manager position
  • At least one previous campaign cycle focused on field/direct voter contact
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time‑management skills; proven volunteer and staff management abilities
  • Very high level of comfort analyzing data and working with databases
  • Ability to work and adapt to fast‑paced campaign environment
  • Knowledge of NGP and VAN
Responsibilities include
  • Supervise staff, volunteers, and interns
  • Create and manage budget for the campaign with outside fundraising consultant
  • Create and manage field/voter contact strategy with Field Director
  • Recruit campaign volunteers prior to hiring of Field Director
  • Develop communications strategy, draft and release content in coordination with outside political consultants
  • Run regular campaign meetings with the candidate, staff, and volunteers
  • Manage approval process of all literature, paid mail and media content
  • Plan and execute visibility events with the candidate
  • Oversee and manage the candidate’s schedule (especially in the summer and fall)

Salary: $5,500–7,500 per month depending on experience and other factors.
